Front Porches for Two Story Homes
The charm of the front porch is still very popular even though people do not use this great space to visit with neighbors. My grand parents had a Sears Prefab home which had a large front porch. I can remember sitting on the porch with Dee and Papa in the summers enjoying the evening breeze and visiting with neighbors. Today most people build decks on the backs of their homes to isolate themselves from their neighbors. I believe if you are building a two story home, you should include a front porch as part of the floor plan. The front porch is excellent out door living space. Many people who build modular homes forget the porch and the requirements for furniture and living space. If you are building a new home, building a porch will add value and enjoyment to your home and at the same time help integrate you with your neighbors.
